ELA Awards 2024 for Shippeo and La Poste, Żabka Polska with the best presentation as voted by the audience.
Choosing a champion among champions is perhaps a thankless and demanding task. Therefore, the European Logistics Association (ELA) entrusts this task to experts when selecting the best European logistics project. For this year’s selection, the jury consisted of 12 members from different ELA member countries and was chaired by Xavier Derycke, France.
As last year's winner was the Slovenian project NAFEZA (CargoX), this year's closing event, with the presentation of the finalists, was co-organised by the Slovenian Logistics Association. The award ceremony took place on 3 October in Bled, following the 8th conference Keep IT Simple, IT in logistics and production, which focused on automation and digitalization in logistics and production.
At SLA, we are proud to have hosted and personally welcomed 13 members of the ELA Board, nine members of the ELA Awards jury, and five finalists for the ELA Awards 2024.
Participants of the event, live in Bled as well as via live stream, got to know the projects:
The project “Collaboration Between Companies in Supply Chain Management Towards Sustainability” by USYNCRO (submitted by ICIL, Spain) also made it to the final selection but unfortunately could not attend the event.
The ELA introduced a new feature this year – the selection of the best, most inspiring presentation by audience vote. The audience at the Bled Rose Hotel was most impressed by Jakub Kłoczko, from Żabka Polska. The award was presented by the SLA President, Igor Žula.
Five top examples of best practices. Each project excellent in its own right. But someone has to win, said Markus Mau, President of ELA, who, together with the committee chairman, Xavier Derycke, announced this year’s winner, and it is the project: "Real-Time Visibility Control Tower" a joint project between Shippeo and La Poste from France.
This prestigious recognition highlights the transformative impact of the Real-Time Visibility Control Tower, an innovative transport management solution that has revolutionized logistics operations at La Poste France. The project showcases cutting-edge technological advancements and a significant leap forward in operational efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. A Transformative Transport Control Tower La Poste’s Control Tower, developed in partnership with Shippeo, represents a pioneering approach to managing the complexities of nationwide logistics.
Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, the control tower handles:
This ambitious project has modernized La Poste’s dispatching centre, enabling the company to:
The Real-Time Visibility Control Tower is a prime example of how digitalization and automation can elevate logistics operations to new heights. By harnessing Shippeo’s state-of-the-art real-time visibility data, La Poste has gained unprecedented control over its transport operations, significantly reducing delays while enhancing transparency and communication with customers. This project aligns with the key focus areas of the Keep IT Simple 2024 conference, showcasing the transformative role of digital solutions in logistics and supply chain management.
Earlier this year, the Control Tower project won the prestigious Rois de la Supply Chain Gold Medal, further cementing its status as an industry-leading solution.
By integrating Shippeo’s technology, La Poste has improved the quality and timeliness of deliveries while reducing CO2 emissions through real-time monitoring. During the 2024 Paris Olympic Games last summer, the Control Tower proved invaluable as traffic was disrupted or completely blocked around the thirteen Olympic venues. Motorized delivery vehicles were restricted from circulating within the perimeters of these sites before, during, and after the events. The Control Tower enabled La Poste to adapt transport schedules for distribution centres, favouring night-time deliveries and facilitating deliveries by foot and cargo bikes in restricted zones. This comprehensive visibility infrastructure allowed La Poste to navigate logistical challenges effectively, ensuring that delivery and security requirements were met under optimum conditions.
Pierre Khoury, CEO of Shippeo, commented on the award win: "We are incredibly honoured to receive this recognition from the ELA. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Shippeo and La Poste teams. The Real-Time Visibility Control Tower is a breakthrough project, and we’re proud to see it deliver tangible value to one of Europe’s most complex logistics networks."
Christophe Baboin, Director-General of Viaposte’s Transport Management and Director of Transport and Delivery in the Mail and Parcel Division at La Poste, shared his thoughts: "This project marks a significant milestone in La Poste’s journey toward digitalization and sustainability. The ability to proactively manage our nationwide transport operations has not only optimized performance but also improved customer satisfaction. We look forward to further enhancing our capabilities in partnership with Shippeo."
